From Brooke County Commissioner

Today, I stood alongside U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, the director of the BHJ-MPC, and the director of Brooke County EMS and EMA at the Market Street Bridge to discuss a project that will make a lasting impact on our community’s safety and future—the replacement of the Market Street Bridge.

For years, I’ve been committed to ensuring that Brooke County has the infrastructure it needs to thrive, especially when it comes to our emergency response capabilities. The Market Street Bridge isn’t just a roadway—it’s a lifeline for our first responders, enabling them to take patients to the nearest emergency room when every second counts, and allowing them to provide and receive mutual aid from our neighbors to the West. That’s why I’m proud to share that we’ve secured $87.5 million in funding to replace this vital, 119 year old, structure.

This project is a testament to what we can achieve with strong, dedicated leadership and a clear vision for the future. As your County Commissioner, I’ve always prioritized the safety and well-being of our community, and I will continue to fight for the resources and support that Brooke County needs.

As we move forward with this replacement, know that my commitment to Brooke County remains unwavering. Together, we’re building a safer, stronger community—one that’s prepared for the challenges of today and tomorrow. Stay tuned as we work with our state representatives to focus on the details of the replacement, and as we work towards a more formal timeline.

Let’s keep Brooke County moving forward!

AJ Brown, Brooke County Commissioner
