BHJ Brownfields Task Force Meeting Update
The Brownfields Task Force met Oct. 11 at the BHJ office, with Barb Zimnox presiding. Ms. Zimnox reported that RFPs have been accepted and interviews for engineering consultant services for the BH FY2017 brownfields assessment grant will be held Monday, Oct. 30.
The task force also reviewed the status of 10 existing cleanup sites in the BDC Coalition grant. Jefferson Co. Port Authority Executive Director Evan Scurti plans to submit for another brownfields cleanup grant for this fiscal year. He also reported two cleanup updates: the former Hancock Manufacturing in Toronto is almost finished, and the Yorkville property is moving along with possible Jobs Ohio Asbestos cleanup.
Marvin Six of the Business Develop Corp. said the BDC will be applying for additional West Virginia cleanup grants, with help from Anna Withrow of the Brownfields Assistance Center. The BDC will be applying for three grants in three different locations, and each grant can consist of multiple parcels. The next meeting will be held at noon Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the BHJ office.
