Using the Weirton Transit Bus

Using the Weirton Transit Bus The Weirton Transit Corporation operates bus service on a route deviated and point deviated basis. The Main Route Bus (Route Deviated Bus) will follow the set route as illustrated in the Main Route Maps and Schedule. If necessary along the route, the bus will deviate from the set route to accommodate passenger needs, and then return to the route and continue along its set route. This bus will only deviate within the boundaries of Zone 1 (See Mapping) and will operate on a curb-to-curb basis. Passengers requiring a higher level service, such as door to door, will also be accommodated. It is recommended that requests for deviated services on the Main Route Bus be made 24 hours in advance, however, same day requests should be accommodated. The stop times listed for the Main Route are based on stop times with no requested deviations, therefore, it is possible the bus can be later than the stops times listed by several minutes. The Main Routes are designed to complete a route loop in a 1hr 5 minutes to 1hr 15 minutes for most loops. In order to keep this bus running closer to the listed schedule, it is recommended that riders catch the bus along the Main Route as much as possible. The fare for trips within Zone 1 is $1.50 per trip.

The Point Deviated Bus will deviate throughout Zone 1 & Zone 2, which is the entire Weirton city limits. (See Mapping). This bus will have no set schedule, except for two stops approximately every 45 minutes at the Millsop Community Center/City Building parking lot and Weirton Medical Center, and the scheduled St. Joe’s tripper service. Trips for this bus should be requested 24 hours in advance by calling the WTC office at 797-8597. The fare for bus service within or into Zone 2 is $3.00 per trip. For trips within Zone 1, the Fare is $1.50. Route and Point Deviated trip requests will be accommodated on a first come/first serve and as available basis. The WTC will do its best to accommodate all trip requests.
